Pet Friendly
Here at The Little Botanical, pet-friendly houseplants are important to us because we simply love pets! There’s nothing better than having your dog greet you excitedly after a long day’s work, or giving your cat a quick scratch between the ears before it gracefully slinks away. We know the love you guys have for your pets, so we make it our mission to ensure that we provide indoor plants that can co-exist alongside your cats and dogs in perfect harmony.

Choosing a pet-friendly plant
While many of our plants are pet-friendly, there are unfortunately some that should be avoided in order to keep your pets safe. The Cactus for example, while being a long-standing classic and favourite in the world of botany, clearly would not make a good friend for a household pet. And for all its style and beauty, the Ficus Elastica (Rubber Plant) is unsafe for pets due to the thick sap it secretes which is used in the production of – you guessed it, rubber!
If you search our plants, you can select to only see ones that are pet-friendly. This means you are in no danger of picking a plant that might be toxic to them.
Like the examples above, some plants are obviously not safe for pets, but you should always double-check just to be sure. If you’re ever in doubt, have a look at our guide to plants that are safe for pets. We go over the topic in more detail and explain how you can make sure that your pets and your plants will get on well with one another.

Pet-safe plant bundles
We’ve also made life easier for plant and pet lovers by releasing a new Pet-friendly Houseplant Bundle. This group of plants have been carefully selected as they are safe for your cats and dogs to inspect without running the risk of a bad reaction.
If you’re looking for a family of plants that you can collect that is risk-free, then Orchids are a great choice. It’s widely agreed by the ASPCA and other animal safety groups that members of the Orchidaceae family are non-toxic to pets.
Pet-friendly houseplants of all sizes
While it’s a terrible shame that some of our favourite plants aren’t safe for pets, we’re still delighted at the range of pet-friendly plants that are still available.
We also have one of our most impressive big house plants that would get along well with your pets, the XL Areca Palm. If you’re looking for a beautiful little succulent, then look no further than our Peperomia Rotundifolia, which is one of our favourite trailing plants that are safe for pets.
There’s a pet-friendly plant for everyone
Whether you’ve got a cute little kitten or three energetic puppies, there’s a pet-friendly plant out there for everyone. Have a look through our pet-friendly range and make sure to check the ‘information’ section on each individual plant to see whether it’s friendly for your pets or not.
You can also contact a member of our friendly team with any questions and we’d be happy to help you pick out the perfect pet-friendly plant that is also just right for your home.
Just remember, if you have a rather excitable pet, it might also be an idea to think about where you place your houseplant!
