Replacing Christmas Greenery

We’re bang in the middle of Twixmas; that crazy time of year when you don’t know what day it is… the turkey is eaten and you’re snuggling on the sofa munching through the last of the Christmas choccies. If are you itching to replace the Christmas Greenery and return your house to a sense of calm, or do you like to keep those decorations up until January to keep that festive vibe alive?

Whichever camp you are in, once you’ve finally packed away those decorations, your house may feel a little bare. Perhaps you have an empty space where just last week you were admiring your beautiful Christmas tree and festive treasures. If so, then its time to think about replacing Christmas Greenery with some new indoor plant options.

Well, fear not, plant lovers! Once you’ve waved goodbye to your Christmas trees and other festive foliage for another year, the absence of a large evergreen in our homes doesn’t have to mean the absence of all indoor greenery!

In fact, in the depths of winter, when we spend lots of time indoors, hibernating from the cold, it’s a really good idea to bring the outdoors in and create ourselves a little (or large!) indoor jungle.

Keep reading for team TLB’s best indoor plant recommendations to replace your Christmas greenery this year. You’ll have your winter home feeling like a tropical jungle in no time with these interior green inspo ideas.

Easy Care and Low Light Loving Plants

For anyone looking to get started with an indoor jungle during the winter, easy care and low light loving plants are a great place to start. Easy care because who doesn’t love an easy care green beauty? And after the hectic nature of Christmas, we highly recommend choosing low maintenance houseplants to get you started and help keep stress levels low as we start the new year.

One of our favourite low-maintenance beauties is the ever-popular Monstera Deliciosa. Commonly referred to as the Cheese Plant thanks to the trademark holes in his leaves that resemble Swiss cheese, this statement plant simply oozes botanical style. Have a read of our blog to find out all you need to know about the Monstera Deliciosa.

As we are all no doubt aware, we don’t get an awful lot of daylight at this time of year. As a general rule, indoor plants need plenty of light to thrive, but there are some varieties that tolerate much lower light levels. And so, it makes sense to choose some of these for winter home décor. Here are a couple of our favourites, that will thrive in your home even during these darker months.

The Chamaedorea is a beautiful, leafy botanical that will bring a timeless elegance to your home. And with a tolerance of lower light levels being one of his characteristics, he’s a fab choice for this time of year.

For a touch of structural style, take a look at the Yucca. Native to the Americas, with this green beauty your home will feel like a tropical paradise, no matter what the weather is doing outside.
