Our trip to Portugal
Here at The Little Botanical we are so lucky to know the very best ceramic makers in the world. Over many years of designing and buying ceramics as part of our Big Brother brand, Hills Plants. We have always had a real love for Portugal so it felt only right that for our new brand we should spend some time exploring Portugal a little more and visiting a few of the factories we have worked with over the years.
We have had ceramics from all over the world, but for us Portugal really do create some of the best. Not only are we lucky enough to work with wonderful family run factories but many reinvest year after year in new machinery to ensure production is the best it can be. Portugal have lead the way in ceramics productions for many decades manufacturing lots of items we would all have in our home- tiles, plates, bowls, pots, decorative items and mugs too, as well as fantastic glass!
Over our 3 day trip we visited 7 factories and drove some 500 miles. Landing in Lisbon and flying home from Porto we got to see some lovely scenery on route, and eat some fantastic meals too! A real treat being a fantastic seafood lunch, full of locally caught delicacies- the Barnacles being our particular favourite!
Having a direct contact with our factories means we know the quality of items we are buying and the love and care that goes into hand making every pot. Each of our pots that have our logo on is hand stamped! The black and gold succulent pots, and dipped in the stunning metallic gold paint to create a real rustic feel to every pot! No two are the same and we just love that.
It’s so important to us that what we create comes from the very best sources we can find. Every plant we grow is grown with care and attention to create the best you can buy so our ceramic pots should be no different. These trips to create our ceramics will continue to be part of our business! We want to make sure our customers are able to buy things from us that they have never seen before. So watch this space!
