Description

An XL Strelitzia Nicolai measuring up to 1.2m in height is one big guy! Also known as the Bird of Paradise, this large plant is guaranteed to be a stunning addition to your home.

This exotic plant is also known as a Wild Banana and paired with The Little Botanical Large concrete ceramic pot or seagrass belly basket, it’s a real statement piece. Make sure you take a look at both pots before you make a decision!

Due to the way this plant grows, split leaves are natural and please note it is normal for your plant to arrive at you with a few split leaves, these will continue to split as the leaves mature.

Please note: the pattern/ colour of the pot may vary as they are handpainted.

Note: the plant and ceramic/ basket will arrive in separate boxes. Just pop the plant in and it’s ready for its forever home.

Plant Care

The Bird of Paradise AKA Strelitzia Nicolai requires a sunny spot but it doesn’t like direct sunlight as the leaves could scorch. They like to be kept moist in the Summer so should be watered weekly but don’t let it sit in water. In winter, let the soil at the top dry out in between watering. Brown tips can be caused by over-watering.

Note, It is normal for the leaves to split at the end, this also occurs naturally in the wild. Unlike the Bird of Paradise cut flower, if you are looking for flowers they are unlikely to appear as this plant needs at least 6 hours of sunlight a day to actually bloom.

Read our plant care guide, to help keep your Strelitzia looking fresh.
