More about Zamioculcas

Zamioculcas are also called Zanzibar gems due to their African origin and the fact that their waxy leaves are so deep green that they are sometimes mistaken as artificial. Another nickname is the ZZ plant as the full scientific name is actually Zamioculcas zamiifolia. A bit of a mouthful!

Zamioculcas prefer bright, indirect sunlight but can thrive in many lighting conditions. All ZZ plants need is adequate light and a good watering every couple of weeks.

These wonderful plants are also perfect for people who often travel because they excel at storing water. The plants grow from rhizomes, a type of underground plant stems, which help them to store water under the soil. In the wild, this makes them drought-tolerant and in the home, it makes them great options for travelling or slightly forgetful plant parents…
