The Sansevieria is a fun and unique plant. It comes in many different varieties, including the Punk (Fernwood Punk), Snaky (Sansevieria Snaky) and Spiky (Sansevieria Cylindrica). They’re one of the easiest plant families to care for and all have firm, spiky leaves.
Did you know? The Sansevieria is one of the best air-purifying plants, according to NASA. It removes toxins from the air, including benzene and formaldehyde. In fact, a space station only needs one plant per 100 square foot to become purified.
Give your Sansevieria a little water approximately once a month

Place your plant somewhere bright and sunny
The Sansevieria is pretty drought resistant. All varieties need watering approximately once a month and less is more. For larger Sansevierias, pop them in a sink with a few inches of water, allowing your plant to soak up water for around 10 minutes. That way, the plant only takes what it needs. Smaller Sansevierias, such as the punk variety, can be watered once a month straight into the soil.
You can be flexible with where you place your plant. Sansevierias are happy to survive in low light conditions and can even live under fluorescent lighting. However, because they’re slow growers, they thrive in bright, indirect sunlight.
This plant is considered toxic if ingested, so it’s best to keep it out of reach of children and pets.
Sanseverias really don’t like being over-watered, especially the snake plant. That’s why you should limit the amount you water your plant and check that the soil’s become dry before giving it another drink. Underwatering is always better than overwatering when it comes to the Sansevieria.
The Sansevieria prefers a dry environment, so there’s no need to mist your plant. This also means you should keep it out of your bathroom. In contrast, keep it away from draughts and air vents, so it doesn’t dry out prematurely.
