Description

English Ivy, AKA Hedera Helix or Common Ivy, grows well as an indoor plant and is perfect for a hanger or pot stand to allow it to trail down. It prefers a low light spot and is incredibly hardy. This makes the English Ivy a great choice for many homes.

The English Ivy is a classic outdoor plant, often seen adorning walls and fences of many homes. We want to bring some of this outdoors in with our houseplant version. Pop your ivy on a shelf to see it trail down, draping over books or vases. It has long stems that love to grow and roam, making it a stylish addition to a room.

One extra special feature of the English Ivy is its air-purifying qualities. It was one of the top-performing plants in NASA’s research into plants that can filter air. Another reason this makes an excellent gift or interior choice. You can find out even more about this evergreen plant in our English Ivy guide.

Please note that as this is a natural plant, the variety of English Ivy may vary from the photo. We love the different shapes and colours we see in all of the plants we send out!

Did you know – while it is called the English Ivy, this plant is also native to Europe, Western Asia, and Northern Africa. It can also be found in other countries such as the USA, where it is seen as invasive as it was introduced there in the 1700s and quickly spread.

Plant Care

The English Ivy prefers to remain dry and will thrive in the shade!. Always let Ivy plant dry out before watering it by checking the top layers of soil. If it feels moist, wait a couple more days before watering it. The plant’s adaptable to both shade and sun, so you can be flexible with where you place it. However, it grows best in partial shade.

The plant benefits from regular fertilising in spring, summer and autumn. Use a generic houseplant feed around once a month to keep it healthy. You don’t need to fertilise your plant in the winter, as this is the plant’s dormant period.

Sits up nice and high on my dresser. It came with enough growth for me to know exactly why I got it. Love it
So happy with everything I ordered I couldn’t help but sit on the floor with them all around me. Nothing needed nursing back to health because they’re so healthy

My first order with Little Botanical – absolutely superb quality plants (and lovely pots). So healthy I can’t stop gazing at them! The ivy is just gorgeous. Most importantly – real care is taken with the packaging/delivery. Can’t recommend highly enough.

This plant is doing well! Sits on top of the wardrobe near where mould tends to grow in the winter. Hoping it will help to stop this issue.
