Native to South Africa, the Crassula is a group of succulents made up of over 200 species. We just love the colours of the Crassula, it really works as part of a group of succulents or standing independently it really holds its own. Usually it is a much darker green, although some plants come through with tips of yellow and red. These almost miniature trees are made up of lots of petal-like leaves. They have just a little more height than our other succulent varieties, meaning when grouped together you create height and texture to the feature.

Brighten up the inside of your home with a Crassula. Read more on The Hot House for other plants that you can bring the outside in.

It doesn’t take much to keep this lovely little guy happy, follow these simple care instructions and you’ll have yourself a happy little houseplant. Put a small amount of water straight into the soil, no more than once a month, any more than that could cause root rot. Make sure to avoid getting water onto the leaves as this could cause those lovely leaves to rot. Keep the moss lovely and fresh with an occasional light sprinkling or spray of water. And place your Crassula in a well-lit spot as he enjoys plenty of sunlight.

  • Beautiful little Crassula (jade plant) in a gorgeous black and gold pot. Arrived well packaged. My only gripe is that it is topped with living moss which ideally needs a mist or daily water. Granted this isn't a lot of water however, succulents need a dry environment and the lower leaves of my Crassula plant are constantly touching damp moss and I've noticed a couple are starting to shrivel up. It just seems quite contradictory to use moss which needs moisture to sit next to a succulent which needs the total opposite? Also, it's worth noting that all succulents are sent in non draining pots which could cause an issue for drainage and wetness of soil!

  • I love this little plant. Mine looks more like the big one in the photo, with three separate 'shoots'. Saw it at John Lewis and had to get it. It is very happy in the kitchen window:)
