Peperomia Obtusifolia
From £13.50
Like a shiny green leafy plant then this is the one for you.
Also known as the baby rubber plant, the Peperomia Obtusifolia is a beautiful houseplant with thick, glossy green leaves. It’s originally found in South American rainforests and stores water in its thick leaves.
Did you know? The Peperomia genus is related to pepper. In fact, the word “Peperomia” translates to “resembles peppers”.
Because the Peperomia Obtusifolia stores water in its leaves, you only need to water it once the soil’s almost dry. This should be approximately once every 1-2 weeks. Avoid wetting the leaves, water the soil directly.
The Peperomia Obtusifolia prefers medium to bright indirect sunlight. However, it’s also happy to tolerate low light levels, so would be happy in a dark corner or office with fluorescent lights.
Peperomia Obtusifolia’s do not like to be over-watered. Signs of this are droopy leaves and mushy stems and their leaves may turn yellow and begin to drop off. If you do overwater your plant, drain the soil and check it again before watering.
Although Peperomia Obtusifolias enjoy a little humidity, they are usually quite happy in average home humidity and don’t require misting.
Avoid direct sunlight as this could scorch its leaves. It’s also best to keep it away from draughts and try not to place it near a radiator.
