Alocasia

With its stunning distinctive leaves, this unusual and gorgeous alocasia houseplant makes a big statement and is bang on trend.
The Alocasia Polly is one unique and gorgeous plant with distinctive pointy leaves. You’ll want to gaze at it all day – pop it on a shelf where you can admire it.
Did you know? The plant’s also known as the Elephant’s Ear plant because its leaves can grow so huge, just like the ears of this large mammal.
The Alocasia Polly performs best with a weekly watering and likes its soil to remain slightly damp. It stores moisture in its thick stems, so be careful as this makes it sensitive to overwatering. In the winter allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry out before watering again. It’s also happy to be regularly misted, particularly throughout spring and summer.
The plant grows towards the light, so it’s good to rotate it by 90 degrees every couple of weeks to give all those stunning leaves a chance to grow evenly. That way, it’ll grow straight up instead of leaning to one side.
Keep an eye on any yellow or browning leaves, as this indicates the plant’s too dry and needs a boost in humidity.
Don’t underwater this beauty as this causes the leaves to turn yellow. The Alocasia Polly is beautiful tropical plant, so do make sure it doesn’t get too cold in the winter. It can start to look a little sad if it’s not warm enough.
Keep it happy by placing it away from draughts and out of cold rooms. It also doesn’t like bright sunlight. It’s happiest in indirect light with a touch of shade, which will protect the delicate leaves.
The Alocasia Polly isn’t dog or cat friendly, so keep it out of reach of your furry friends. It’s best to keep small children away from this plant too, as it is toxic if ingested.
